Tele-Jag-Stang

Custom Offset Electric

Notes: A cross-breed between Fender's Telecaster, Mustang, and Jaguar. The body shape is taken from Kurt Cobain's signature "Jag-Stang". The body was made by "No Moon Laser Guitar Bodies" out of reclaimed pine and finished in nitro. The neck is a generic 24" maple Tele neck with lacquer finish. I used overwound Tele pickups, and 500k pots. The control plate is installed upside down for easier volume swells, as well as to keep the pickup selector out of the way. This may be my favorite electric guitar right now. I built it in December 2025, and used it on the second project extensively. I've found that these extra hot tele pickups are ultra versatile. High gain distortion, twinkly cleans, twangy country tones, it seems to excel at all of them. The tele is considered to be the jack of all trades among solidbody electrics. This thing is very much a tele with a different body shape. Although, I wonder how much the pine has to do with long sustain and overall response. The works of Kurt Cobain have been a large influence on my development as an artist. This guitar is a way for me to pay homage to his impact, while still standing on my own sonically.

"Mustang"

An Experiment

Notes: This guitar started life as a "Stupid Deal of The Day" Squier Bullet Mustang HH, and that's what is essentially is even now. (If you poke around here, you'll probably pick up on the theme that I rarely buy gear new or at full price) It spent a year or two stock, but I eventually wanted to part together a guitar that can do what my Silvertone does, without risking damaging a vintage instrument. I started with a lipstick pickup, but also got a mini humbucker to hopefully capture a bit of what I like about the Les Paul Deluxe. The humbucker is mounted closer to the bridge. At some point, I'll likely put some kind of "neck" pickup in the neck position. These Bullet Mustangs come with swimming pool routing, making them awesome for experimenting with pickup configurations. Brass 3-saddle telecaster bridge made more of an impact on the feel and sound that I could have possibly imagined. Locking tuners, 500k pots, and a custom paintjob. Let's not talk about the wooden pickguard, it won't be permanent. The short scale of this guitar, along with the twangy brass saddles and lipstick pickup give the guitar a very raw jangle. It is great to have a guitar that can pull that sound off without any external processing. Also used quite a bit on the second project.

Squier Telecaster

Notes: Squier Bullet Tele, with the original neck from my bullet strat installed. The original maple neck was a baseball bat. I prefer the slim d profile strat neck on here. I don't use this one as much now that I've got the Tele-Jag-Stang, but it's still quite useful to have around if I want the tele sound without the overwound pickups. You can get a super clean, transparent tone from the pickups.

Notes: This was my first guitar. I didn't play it much as a kid, choosing the accordion every time. In late 2022, when I was first getting into serious writing and recording, I decided to see what I could do to upgrade the guitar. I collected pieces over time, and the instrument became more and more versatile as the parts came in. I wanted to make one guitar that can switch to entirely different sounds depending on the pickups. A humbucker in the bridge, a hotrail in the middle, and the original neck pickup, now moved as close to the neck as possible. The two bottom pickups are wired to be out of phase when selected together. I should setup a coil split at some point, as well as tone control for the bridge. The neck says "Fender", but it's actually just some cheap chinese neck. Despite this, I actually prefer the neck to some genuine Fenders I've tried in the past.

Notes: This is the sound of EGG'S MURMUR. This is my ideal electric guitar. It smells like an attic. It is older than my dad. It belonged to my dad. The strings haven't been changed since I harvested the strings from my Telecaster for it. Those strings were from the factory, and had been on the tele for months. This is the only electric guitar on all of EGG'S MURMUR, save for one song, Bran for Boys. The strat was used on that one.

Notes: I obtained it used. My bandmate was the original owner. The case smells like gummy worms. This thing handles high gain distortion super well. Very rich humbuckers...

Notes: Basically the 12-string version of my ES-335. They look and feel very similar. I love 12 string guitars.
